Is it for me?
Yes if you have an interest in the subject and would like to learn the essential professional, skills to prepare you for a career in the rapidly expanding health and beauty industry.
This is a 2 year full time course.
What do I need?
5 GCSEs (A-C) or BTEC First Award or GNVQ in an appropriate area. Mature students without the above qualifications but with relevant experience will be most welcome.
You will need an interview for this course. You will also need to complete an initial skills assessment prior to enrolement to ensure you meet the level 1 entry criteria.
What will I study?
The course involves the professional study of all aspects of beauty therapy, including subjetcs such as anatomy and physiology, therapies, marketing and business studies.
You will also develop your skills through work experience in the health and beauty industry, including additional qualifications along side your main course of study.
You will also use Demalogica skin care products - only available from professional skin care therapists.
Where will I study?
Baltic Campus
You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.
How will I be assessed?
Your work will be continuously assessed using assignments, case studies, and practical work.
How will I be taught?
Our lecturers all have extensive experience of working in the health and beauty industry and are actively involved in continuing their own professional development to support student therapists with a highly professional interesting and enjoyable learning experience.
What qualification will I get?
BTEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy Sciences.
Can I go on to further study?
You could progress to an HND in Beauty Management or the BSc Hons Beauty Therapy Management.
