Business - BTEC National Diploma
What will I study?
The aim of the course is to provide a foundation for a range of careers and the ability to transfer skills in different working situations. It aims to provide a basis for and encourage progression to Higher Education and related professions. The course will also provide the opportunity to develop personal qualities that students will take with them into their working life. Assessment is continuous and students will complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that all aspects of the course have been completed to a satisfactory standard. Students have a work placement with local employers in order to gain practical knowledge and experience of the business world. Students are visited on these placements and employers complete a skill assessment of the students progress. The two-year full award consists of 4 compulsory units and 14 optional units - it is the equivalent of 3 A levels

How can I progress?
Achievement of the diploma award will give students the necessary insight and experience to progress to a higher level course at university or to business related employment. It will allow students to follow the Foundation Degree in Business & Management currently run at Hugh Baird College.

What will I need to qualify for this course?

Course Structure
The award will include work experience placements of one week which will form an important part of study. It will comprise nine units in the first year of which four will be compulsory and the others options. Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *Exploring Business Activity, *Business Resources, *Marketing, *People, Communication and Information, *Accounting, *Creative Promotion, *Marketing Research, *Retail, *Recruitment and Selection.
