Yes if you want to gain the business skills required by employers and prepare for further study in higher education.
Where will I study?
Baltic Campus
You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.
What do I need?
You should be interested in pursuing a career in Business. Formal entry to the course requires a minimum of four GCSEs (grades A-C), a First Diploma in Business or similar qualifications. Mature students without the relevant qualifications but with appropriate experience are welcome. You will need an admissions interview.
Acceptance onto some courses may be subject to satisfactory police clearance. Further guidance will be given by the course team at interview or induction.
A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to studying on this course, a number of factors will be taken in to consideration.
What will I study?
You will study units which cover:

• Marketing
• Human resources
• Finance
• Law
• Professional Development and Training
• Business Enterprise *

*Recently students have taken part in a "Dragon's Den" event to raise finance for possible future business ventures.
All students following full time courses will be expected to develop their skills in English, Maths and IT.
There may be an opportunity to undertake a work experience placement and also participate in an educational visit to London. This year's students went to Wembley Stadium, the Houses of Parliament, the Law Courts and the Bank of England.
How will I be assessed?
The programme is assessed by a range of methods which may include projects, assignments, case studies and coursework. There are no exams on the course.

Can I go onto further study?
This qualification helps you to go onto higher studies including HNDs or degrees. There is the opportunity for all students who complete the course to continue their studies at Gateshead College on our own Foundation Degree programme.
