Qualification: BTEC National Diploma EDEXCEL

Duratin: 2 years
Students will acquire knowledge in a wide range of subject areas related to public services including Criminology, Law, Citizenship, International Perspectives and Human Behaviour. Students will also develop a variety of personal skills such as leadership, teamwork and fitness. You will also get the chance to experience new activities on various trips including a residential one over the duration of the course. Students will also get the chance to achieve other qualifications, including the CSLA Community Sports Leader Award and Basic First Aid. Assessment is by coursework. There are no exams.

Qualification explained
BTECs are practical, work-related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start a career. The BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight away or go into Higher Education first. A BTEC National Award is equivalent to one A Level so it can be combined with other subjects. A BTEC First Diploma introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* to C and is normally taken at college as a full-time course.
