Course Description
This is a practical work-related course which has 18 units which are internally assessed and include 8 core units. You will also benefit from gaining work experience within the NHS. A key feature is the the opportunity for learners to produce a personaland professional development portfolio which links many aspects of the programme. The course is 3 days per week in college, 2 days in placement which starts in January of the 1st year.

Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSEs at Grade C, one of which must be English. Or Level 2 skills/craft qualification (eg NVQ 2 or relevant work experience).

  • health safety and security in health and social care
  • development through the life stages
  • fundamentals of anatomy and physiology for health and social care
  • personal and professional development in health and social care
  • sociological perspectives for health and social care

Duration: 2 years

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: A variety of assessment techniques are used including assignment work, projects and role play. All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the programme is awarded.

Progression Routes: Successsful students can progress onto a higher level of study in the form of professional training at degree level to gain entry into the nursing and allied health professions. They are also guaranteed interviews for Adult Nursing.
