About this course
All applicants will be interviewed before being offered a place on the course. This interview provides the opportunity for both the potential student and College staff to ensure that the course will meet the needs and abilities of the student. Applicants will be expected to have at least 4 GCSE passes at grade C (or better) including Maths & English, or a BTEC First Diploma for ICT Practitioners.

The BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners (Systems Support)
consists of six core units plus specialist units that provide the broad range of skills need in the IT sector.
First year Units:
Communication & Employability Skills
Computer Systems
Mathematics for IT Practitioners
Communication Technologies
IT System Troubleshooting & Repair
Digital Graphics & Computers
Principles of Software Design & Development
Installing & Upgrading Software
Website Production & Management
Second year Units:
Principles of Computer Networks
IT Technical Support
Information Systems
Network System Security
IT Project(double unit)
Organisational System Security
Maintaining Computer Systems
Controlling Systems Using IT
Additionality and Key Skills at an appropriate level will also be studied alongside this qualification.
Assessment procedure:
This course is assessed using a mixture of coursework assignments and projects.
The qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
