Career Opportunities

This course gives students a way to progress to Higher Education or into the Creative Industries. Job opportunities include Studio Engineering, Music Production, Broadcasting and Film Sound Production.

Day to day experience

The course offers a programme of study that requires a high level of commitment and motivation. Studio and computer sessions comprise the majority of the timetable, lectures and tutorial sessions make up the remainder. In addition to the course you can also opt for sessions in Digital Video Editing and DJ Skills. You will have the opportunity to work with musicians in recording sessions and produce mixes and remixes in a variety of musical styles. In the second half of the course you will be able to book time in several studios for completing mixes and other coursework.

Time commitment

This is a full-time course. For much of the course, the weekly timetable is made up of 2 studio sessions, a lecture, a computer session and a group tutorial. You will spend a minimum of 12 hours at Confetti each week and in addition to this you will be expected to complete some coursework in your own time. The course normally lasts for 15 - 18 months although exceptional students may be offered a Fast-Track option that allows completion of the course in 12 months.

Funding

The National Diploma is free for all students under 19 and for those in receipt of benefits or on a low income. International (non-EU) students will be expected to pay fees. Students can continue to claim benefits whilst on the course. Some bursaries are available for assistance with travel and course costs.
