What does the course consist of?
During the two years you will study three core units:
  • The Historical Context of Performance
  • Performing Arts Business
  • Rehearsing for Performance


You will also study eight specialist units chosen from the following:
  • Devising Plays
  • Contemporary Theatre Performance
  • Acting Auditions
  • Principles of Acting
  • Choreographic Principles
  • Musical Theatre Performance
  • Developing Movement Skills
  • Dance Appreciation
  • Theatre for Children
  • Dance Performance
  • The Healthy Performer
  • Developing Contemporary Dance

What else do I need to know?
Good practical skills and a willingness to work with others are essential for this project-based course, together with a commitment to produce written work and evaluations when required. Students must be prepared to devise and rehearse during extra-curricular hours alongside their normal lessons.
This qualification can combine with another A Level in any of the discrete specialist areas of Dance, Drama or any other A Level for progression into the world of the Performing Arts or onto university.
