This 18 unit course combines both academic study and the development of practical skills and knowledge. You will study eight core units and ten specialist units.

The core units are:

· Government, policies and the Public Services
· Team leadership in the uniformed Public Services
· Citizenship, contemporary society and the Public Services
· Team development in Public Services
· Understanding discipline within the uniformed Public Services
· Diversity and the Public Services.

The specialist units are selected by the College and could include:
· International perspectives for the uniformed Public Services
· Outdoor and adventurous expeditions
· Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activities
· Skills for water-based outdoor and adventurous activities
· The planning for and management of major incidents
· Responding to emergency service incidents
· Uniformed Public Services employment.

You may also be given an opportunity to study for a number of short
qualifications that complement your main course including Functional
Skills.

How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed by coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities.

On successful completion you may:

Progress to a higher education course such as the Foundation Degree in Uniformed Services or Sport (Coaching), which are run by Weston College in partnership with the University of the West of England and the University of Bath respectively.

Or

Start a career in the Armed, Public or Emergency Services. There is a wide range of career paths that you can follow in the services that offer some of the most challenging and rewarding careers available.

Achieving this qualification will give
you the equivalent of 3 A Levels
and provide entry to study at
degree level.
