About this course
For entry onto this course you should have at least 5 GCSEs - Grade C or above. This must include Maths, English and Science and preferably P.E. (although the latter subject is not compulsory).

Course Content: This course is ideal for you if you have a keen interest in Sport, both practically and theoretically. Throughout the two years of the course you will study 18 topics assessed through coursework. You will cover a range of stimulating topics, including:
· Anatomy for Sport and Exercise
· Training and Fitness for Sport
· Sports Coaching
· Sports Massage
· Sport and Exercise Biomechanics
· Outdoor adventurous activities
You will gain knowledge and understanding, as well as practical skills required for employment within the sports industry. This can include coaching, sports development and fitness instruction or therapy.
Special Features: You will also complete some time gaining work experience during the course, through which you will gain valuable skills and experience, as well as gaining an insight into the duties involved in this line of work. Students are also involved in various trips throughout the year, including sponsored cycle rides and skiing.
Students will have opportunities to gain coaching qualifications at an extra cost, dependent upon demand. Several trips will be arranged throughout the year for example skiing in Italy or Camping in France.
Course Format: This is a Level 3 qualification equivalent to three A levels.
Progression: Once you have completed the course you will have the option of moving directly into employment within the Sport and Recreation Industry, or, you may further your studies in this area by opting to complete a Foundation Degree or Degree Programme in PE, Sports Science or Sports Therapy.
