The world of travel and tourism is very dynamic and this broad based course will allow you to explore a number of areas of the industry. It is an excellent foundation for careers in tour operations, event organisation, passenger handling, marketing of destinations, customer service and the retail sector of the industry.
The course is made up of 18 units which will give you a comprehensive introduction to essential travel and tourism topics as well as allowing you to explore specific subjects in greater depth such as the cruise sector, longhaul travel destinations and the European travel market. As part of your course you will have the opportunity to undertake a week long residential abroad together with the option to visit a number of top UK attractions.
Project work has a strong emphasis on real industry issues and enables you to experience the sorts of situations you are likely to meet in the workplace. This course will develop your research, creative, problemsolving and interpersonal skills, all of which are valued in the industry. You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications including communication and numeracy skills.
How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed during the course through completed assignments, project work, presentations and practical activities. You will be expected to demonstrate your own initiative and also your ability to work in teams. There are no examinations.

Progress to a degree level course such as the Foundation Degree in Tourism Management run at Weston College in partnership with Bath Spa University.
Or
Chose from a wide range of career paths in the travel and tourism industry, for example Event Organiser, Passenger Handling Agent or working as a Tour Representative. The
opportunities are many and varied in this fast moving and expanding sector of the UK economy.
Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 3 A Levels
and provides entry to study at degree level.
