:ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The essential entry requirements for this course are:
A minimum of five GCSEs at grades A*-C (To include English Language and maths)
BTEC First Diploma in a related subject at Distinction level (with key skills in either communication, AON or ICT)
Current College students must have successfully completed their current Key Skill qualification
In addition to these essential requirements you need to be able to demonstrate a good attendance record, evidence of recent academic study, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work with others, a commitment to or an interest in a career in Travel and Tourism and a positive attitude.
If you are over 21, but do not have the level of qualifications set out above, we would still welcome an application from you. You will need to demonstrate that you are capable of benefiting from the course and be able to cope with the demand of a full time level 3 course.
Preparation for interview:
You will be required to bring with you to interview the following documents. This is so we can support and guide you with your application.
A copy of your latest school/college report/attendance data and predicted grades
Copies of qualifications you have already achieved
A piece of current marked coursework that you are proud of

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
If you plan a career in the fast growing Travel and Tourism Industry, and you learn best through a mixture of written, practical and work-related assignments, then this is the course for you. You will have an interest in Travel and Tourism and the ability to develop the personal skills and qualities needed for jobs in this people-centred industry. Successful completion of the National Diploma will also qualify you for a place on HND and Degree programmes in this or other Colleges and Universities (subject to your overall grades). You need to be prepared to study independently and challenge yourself to achieve high standards of success.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will study 4 core units as well as a 14 specialist units, which cover a wide subject range. You will also benefit from gaining work experience in your second year. The units you study will aid you in your career choice for the Travel and Tourism industry.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
You will attend College between 9:00 to 5.15, up to 4 days a week. All course activities will be as work-related as possible, using role-play and case studies where appropriate as well as lecture and task-based learning. Your studies will be supported by an experienced team of tutors and you will have regular 1-1 and group tutorials. As this course is work related, we expect the same standards of attendance, punctuality and commitment as an employer would.
WHAT CAN THE COURSE LEAD TO?
The College's market research and experience with past students indicates that when you have successfully completed the programme, you will have the mixture of qualifications and experience to apply with confidence for initial level management and supervisory jobs in the Travel and Tourism Industry, or progress onto Higher Education. Achievement at Distinction attracts 360 UCAS points (equivalent to 3 A levels).
WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO?
To obtain the National Diploma you need to pass 18 units. Each is assessed by assignments. The National Diploma is graded as either a Pass, Merit or Distinction and these grades are the equivalent of 3 Levels.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
We are very proud of the enrichment activities our travel and tourism students participate in. This year our students will have spent a day at UKSA, visited London, and have spent a day training with Virgin Atlantic. In year two, the students will do a residential study trip overseas. Trips for 2010/2011 to be advised.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Our students have a high profile at the College; we help to host events including the High School taster days, with our students acting as tour guides. One of the units studied on the course requires students to complete at least 60 hours of work experience; this is done in the second year of the course.
