Attendance
You will normally attend college four days a week (term times).
Duration
2 years, 36 weeks each year.
Description of the Course
A BTEC National is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start a career.

· Citizenship, Contemporary Society and the Public Services
· Crime and it's effects on Society
· Understanding Behaviour in Public Service Employment
· Diversity and the Public Services
· Custodial Care of Individuals
· Understanding the Criminal Justice system and Police Powers
· Responding to Emergency Service Incidents
· The Planning for and Management of Major Incidents

Assessment
Students are required to complete a portfolio (file) containing evidence of assignments, multiple choice question tests, presentations, leadership tasks, group exercises and practical work.
Entry requirements
Grades A-C for 4 or more GCSEs (English essential) or you will have successfully completed a level 2 programme with Merit or Distinction. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and skills in an interview. A good level of fitness is required.

You will have the opportunity to experience a residential outdoor adventure visit, which aims to develop your teamwork, communication and leadership skills.
