By interview and initial assessment with portfolio plus either; a BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in a related subject,or an Intermediate GNVQ in a related subject, or at least 4 GCSEs at grade A* - C or appropriate work experience. The computer games industry is one of the largest and lastest-growing entertainment mediums in the world and the industry needs specialists with the right mix of skills.
This Level 3 course aims to provide a background into the industry and the design, development, production, and marketing of games, with a primary focus on visual communication.You will also develop an understanding of different game platforms, engines and processes used in the industry. Strong visual communication (drawing and making) skills are essential - from day one, the course is focussed on developing Art & Design skills in relation to the video game industry. From traditional Life Drawing and 3D modelling through Animation and 2D/3D Digital Techniques, this course will equip learners with a good understanding of a range of practices including a Professional Practice unit. Homework or private study is required.

Progression
Success at this level allows learners to apply to study a degree at university, or to seek employment. In either case, you will be able to show a portfolio of visual work, executed to a very high standard. You will have a solid understanding of the wider media environment, as well as having acquired research, managerial and other professional skills.
