Why study BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts?

What do I study?
Eighteen coursework units dealing with the theoretical and practical aspects of the Performing Arts including acting, dance and singing, together with the technical, design and administrative skills needed to create and run successful productions.

Where does the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts take me?
This course is a recognised entrance qualification for Higher Education and Drama Schools. It is also of value to careers within Administration, Marketing, Sales and PR work.

Where does the BTEC National Diploma in Production Arts take me?
The course is a recognised qualification for entry into Higher Education to study a range of specific areas such as; Lighting Design, Stage Design, Technical Theatre Studies. Employment opportunities within the stage, film, television or events industries are vast and include: Events/Production Management, Stage Design, Scenic Art, Prop Making, Special Effects, Scenic Carpentry, Technical Management/Operations, Sound/Lighting Design and Marketing. There is currently a skills deficit in many of these areas so this is an ideal time to be training.

What do I need?

You must have at least four A*-C GCSE passes. A GCSE in Design Technology or Art is welcomed but not essential. Ideally you will have some experience working technically on a theatre production at school or elsewhere. You must have enthusiasm for this subject, be committed to hard work and be available for after College hours' sessions. Applicants may be asked to prepare an assignment to discuss at their interview in the spring prior to the start of the course.
*Please note that if you study this course you will not always be able to catch the College bus in the evenings as you will need to be available after College for rehearsals and shows. On these occasions you will have to make your own arrangements for transport home.
