Pre-requisites
You must be over 16 to take this course and be educated to at least GCSE standard D-G, or hold an NVQ Level 1, or a GNVQ Foundation Certificate. If you are already working as a Teaching Assistant, or if you have considerable classroom experience, perhaps gained through voluntary work, then it is not essential to hold these set qualifications.

You will have your own personal tutor helping you with your course work and with any questions you may have. Plus you can contact a Student Advisors by email or phone for all the practical advice you may need – so we really are with you 100%.
Assessment
This course includes four assignments that you complete as part of your coursework and then forward to your tutor. Once your tutor has marked and graded your work, they'll send it back to you with their comments.

About BTEC
BTEC Short Courses are designed to provide focused and specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. The qualifications can provide a specialist emphasis for candidates following a general vocational programme of study.
The BTEC Short Courses offer a focused qualification for candidates, particularly more mature candidates, who wish to follow a short
programme of study that is directly related to their work experience or to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into in due course.
On successful completion of these qualifications, candidates may progress into or within employment and/or continue their study in the vocational area.
Level 2 BTEC Certificate for Teaching Assistants
The Level 2 BTEC Certificate for Teaching Assistants is designed to focus on:
• providing a framework of education and training for teaching assistants
• providing opportunities for teaching assistants to achieve a nationally recognised level 2 vocationally specific qualification
• providing opportunities for full-time candidates to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the teaching assistants field or progress to further vocational qualifications such as the Level 3 BTEC Certificate for Teaching Assistants or an NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants
• developing the knowledge, understanding and skills candidates need to provide effective support in the classroom
• providing opportunities for candidates to focus on the development of the major key skills and the wider key skills in a teaching assistants context, such as improving own learning and performance, working with others and problem solving
• providing opportunities for candidates to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
