PRESENTATION
If you wish your pupils to be more independent in their learning habits and more positive in their approach to learning in general, then we have created a solution for you.
Building Bridges is our Key Stage 2 Learning to Learn package. It is designed to be used either as a transition module to develop independent learning skills as a ‘bridge’ to Secondary School, or as an introduction to L2 our Secondary Learning to Learn Approach.
Building Bridges develops independent learning skills and allows your pupils to practise using those skills so they can become even better learners. We have organised the lessons so that they develop a body of knowledge about learning, a set of personal attributes and the basic skills of questioning, independent enquiry, research and presentation.
The content is organised in the following easy to follow way:
Knowledge
-Choosing the learning lifestyle
-Knowing what helps and what hinders my learning
-Finding out about ‘me’
-Making it happen
Attributes
-How to stay positive
-Overcoming difficulties
-Respecting strengths and weaknesses
-Keeping friends
Skills
-How to ask really good questions
-Where to go for the facts
-Taking good notes
-Giving and receiving feedback
Building Bridges provide you with 36 lessons each of 45 minutes. Each lesson comes with clear teacher guidance all the resources in place. Access to resources comes with one click!
Building Bridges comes with an introductory teacher manual; electronic resources for every lesson; simple learner Success Mats for team problem solving, coaching and peer assessment; achievement posters and Learner Passports and Learning Journals for each pupil.
