Introduction:
Individuals who undertake electrical work in new domestic dwellings, or extend or alter existing installations, are required to be competent and ensure their work complies with the requirements of BS 7671 IEE Wiring Regulations. Approved Document P requires that in England and Wales certain work should be notified, prior to its commencement, to the local Building Control Department. This is usually done using a Department of Central and Local Government competent person self-certification scheme operator.
