Overview:
Business Analysts are required by most organisations and it’s a very popular career to pursue for individuals who have an interest in analysing various businesses, processes and defining solutions to improve them. Due to the increased competition in the job market employers are looking for individuals who have the right skills and who can understand a project environment and also who can clearly explain their involvement in previous projects. Candidates who have previous experience in working on active projects and also who have knowledge and can communicate clearly on the way they performed the analysis will have a competitive advantage over other candidates.
This workshop involves building an actual system which will be used to book loans, deposits and bonds in a financial institution.
Level 1
Introduction to Business Analysis

- The role of a Business Analyst (BA)
- The initial questions a BA should ask
- What is a Business Requirement Document (BRD)
- Important sections of a BRD
- What is a Functional Specification
- Important Sections of a Functional Spec
- What is a Test Strategy
- How to draft a Test Strategy
- How to Draft Test cases
Level 2
Introduction to the specific project
- The project objectives
- An Overview of how a financial system should work
- An overview of for loans , deposits and Bonds
- What’s required by the business from the system
- What are the specific milestones to be achieved by the project
- Define a project plan
Level 3
Project Documentation stage
At this stage every BA will be trained to draft the Business Requirement and the Functional Specification for the specific project
- Conduct workshops and meetings with Project stake holders to understand the requirements
- Draft the Business Requirement Document (Draft 1)
- Review the document with Business Users
- Complete BRD
- Draft the Functional Requirement Document (Draft 1)
- Review the document with the business and IT developers
- Complete the Functional spec
Level 4
System Development and Testing stage
At this stage the BA will work with the IT developers on developing the system and also documenting the test strategy and the test scripts
- Hold meetings with developers on the system and communicate to the business
- Document the Test strategy for the project
- Document the test cases for the project
- Perform UAT and Functional testing
- Communicate on project status to stake holders
- Project Go – Live
- Conduct Post implementation review
