You will gain a solid grounding in the foundations of business and law with the opportunity to specialise in either subject at the end of the first year.
Cutting-edge modules in Commercial Law, Company Law, International Trade Law and Employment Law run alongside core business modules spanning marketing, strategic management and managing people. You will be taught by research-active experts from the reputable Law and Business Schools and form part of strong and active communities of students and staff.
If you decide to specialise in law (LLB(Hons) Law with Business) you have the opportunity to work towards a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD), meeting the necessary professional qualifications to progress to the LLM in Advanced Legal Practice (LPC LLM) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) to train as a solicitor or barrister.

About this course

Placements
You are encouraged to do a 40-week paid work placement in the UK or overseas, supported by an award-winning placement team. You will gain valuable real-world experience, develop key skills and increase your employability on graduation.
In addition to this you can study the final year 'Law in Action' module where you will gain experience in a local law firm or voluntary organisation for one day a week. Students have worked with Bristol Law Centre, Watkins Solicitors, Red Cross, Death Row, Citizens Advice and local schools.

Alternatively, you can select a module pathway which will enable you to major in Business and graduate with an BA(Hons) Business Management with Law or Law and graduate with a LLB(Hons) Law with Business.

The University continually enhances our offer by responding to feedback from our students and other stakeholders, ensuring the curriculum is kept up to date and our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for the real world. Learning and Teaching

We offer a student centered learning experience supporting you to develop the skills you will need to study law and to continue to have a successful career based on your legal studies. Our modules offer different approaches to learning which allow you to choose modules which best support your learning style.

You will be allocated an academic personal tutor who will support you in your academic studies throughout your degree.

Study time

During each year of your taught degree you will have 12 hours of teaching each week with a lecturer. If you undertake a dissertation or take the Law in Action module, you will receive nine hours of contact in a classroom setting, as well as further individual contact with the member of staff supervising the module.

In years 1 and 2 you will receive one hour of peer assisted learning (PAL) each week. All students can access the Academic Success Centre (ASC) for workshops and to arrange one-to-one sessions with tutors.

Assessment

Assessments vary across the course, including problem and essay questions, examinations, research based assessments, reflection on skills acquisition, report writing, portfolio submission and presentations.
