Course programme



The course provides a nationally recognised and vocationally specific qualification with which to enter employment or to progress to higher education such as a degree in business and/or management or an associated specialist field. The Business BTEC programme of study includes a variety of types of business activity such as accounting, administration, finance, human resource management and marketing. Students that apply for the 90 Credit Extended Diploma will also have the opportunity to apply to join the Business Career Academy which enables you to gain an insight into financial services through a programme of guru lectures, business mentoring and six week internship.

The course is delivered through workshops, practical activities and lectures and is supported through individual and group tutorials.In addition to your main programme, you will study English and maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSEs English and maths (one per year).

You will study the 90 Credit Diploma in year one, followed by the Extended Diploma in year two.

Entry Requirements

Normally a minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades A*- C) including English language and four other science

Career Opportunities

This course offers access to a wide range of careers in business, including junior or managerial roles in human resources, finance, insurance, operations, IT and customer service. Alternatively students may find work as a business advisor, project manager, general manager, investment administrator, bank manager, marketing assistant or public relations officer. Others may start their own businesses.


Course Progression

Students can progress to a range of higher education programmes and professional courses including accounting, law, marketing and personnel management.

Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
You will receive the details of your first day over the summer period,
