Who is the course for?
A BTEC National Diploma is an ideal course for school leavers and mature students who are looking for a career in business and would like to go to university or enter employment within a business environment.

What is the course about?
The BTEC National Diploma in Business is a practical and work related course which is made up of eighteen business related units over two years. All students take four core units and fourteen specialist units. Core units include:

Exploring Business Activity
Investigating Business Resources
Introduction to Marketing
Effective People, Communication and Information

The course will enable you to develop specialist skills and knowledge in practical areas including communication, marketing, team working and human resources. There will also be opportunities to go on a variety of trips and visits which in the past have included The Trafford Centre, Alton Towers, Chester Zoo, different types of businesses, Universities and many others.

Will I need anything else?
No specialist equipment is needed for this course.

How long & often do I attend?
A two year course requiring attendance throughout the week.

How will I be assessed?
All units are assessed by 100% coursework which will comprise a series of assignments, presentations and projects.

What opportunities will this lead to?
The BTEC National Diploma in Business will give you a variety of options.

This course will give you the same amount of UCAS points as with 3 A levels allowing you to progress onto Higher Education and study a BA Hons Degree in a business related area such as Business and Finance, IT, Management, Marketing or Travel and Tourism. You could also study for a Foundation Degree at Riverside College or work towards a professional qualification such as Chartered Institutes of Marketing, Accountants and Personnel Development. Alternatively you could enter employment within an office environment at a clerical officer level.
