Designed to develop management potential the HNC in Business and Management is a specialist work-related programme intended to meet the changing needs of industry, commerce and the public services. It allows those already working to continue to study and use their existing workplace experience in a classroom environment while gaining a recognised business qualification. Course programme

Applicants should normally be at least 18 years of age. Appropriate Level 3 qualification and/or relevant professional experience, plus an interview with the course leader. Applications are invited from a wide range of backgrounds including mature students and more recent A Level/BTEC National Diploma students who hold relevant work experience and/or qualifications, and/or learning through experience. Applicants who work in business administration, etc. or related fields are welcome to apply. Students will normally be invited for interview. Course Content Modules are delivered on a two year rolling programme. Students have the opportunity to study in small groups with students at different stages of the course. This enables students to benefit from a range of professional experience and advice from their peers. To achieve a HNC, candidates must complete 120 credits made up of a mandatory core of 60 credits with the remaining 60 credits taken from specialist units. Units covered include: · Business Strategy · Managing Activities to Achieve Results · Human Resource Management · Research Project (Year 2 only) · Marketing Principles · Managing Financial Resources & Decisions · Organisations and Behaviour · Business Environment Units are subject to change. Module Descriptor Handbook How will I be assessed? The course is assessed entirely through coursework. Each unit is internally assessed and graded by lecturers. Much of the study will require work outside of formal classes, so self-motivation and good time management skills are essential. As a guideline you are advised that a 15-credit unit approximates to a learning time of 150 hours. Progression Those who successfully complete the HNC in Business & Management will be invited to attend the Plymouth University graduation ceremony held in September. Opportunities are available for those who successfully complete the HNC in Business and Management to apply to progress to year 2 of a full BA Honours degree. Fees The course fees for all students for this course will be £3000 per annum for 2016/17.
