Additional Information: No formal qualifications required, however, students must have an interest in business, a commitment to study hard and a high level of attendance and punctuality. Students will be required to meet deadlines and to complete work effectively as part of a team.
COURSE OUTLINE
The BTEC Introductory Diploma in Business, Retail and Administration is a Level 1 course designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential. It is a practical "hands on" course taught in the context of real jobs and careers in Business, Retail and Administration sectors, giving you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in these sectors, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. You would be expected to complete the course in one year.
The course is made up of eight units: three core units, two compulsory Personal Skills units and three optional units.

All of the units are assessed through practical assignments marked by your Tutors and then externally verified by Edexcel.
Progression:
A BTEC Introductory Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSEs Grades D-G.Students gaining a BTEC Introductory in Business, Retail and Administration will have access to a range of career and further education opportunities. You
learn and use a variety of skills throughout the course, including collecting, analysing and interpreting data, communicating your findings in different ways, and identifying and developing the links between different parts of the subject. These skills are in great demand and are recognised and highly valued by employers and colleges.
The criteria for progression, in addition to achieving an overall course grade of Merit or Distinction, include:
With these you may apply to proceed to BTEC First (Level 2) at SFX or at another college.
Many students choose to use their qualification to go straight into employment, rather than go on to further education.
