The Course
The level 3 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools i s a work-based qualification designed for those who work with teachers in classrooms supporting the learning process in primary, secondary or special schools.
This includes those with a general support role and those with specific responsibilities for a pupil, subject area or age group.
The level 3 NVQ course is particularly suitable for those who have already completed the level 2 NVQ for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools of the NVQ2 for Teaching Assistants.
Course Content
The NVQ 3 is made up of 6 Mandatory Units:
- Help to keep children safe
- Support pupils learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour
- Develop and promote positive relationships
- Support the development and effectiveness of work teams
- Reflect on and develop practice
Assessment/Exams
Students must provide evidence of their competence as a Teaching Assistant.
This will include:
- provision of evidence for each unit of the programme
- satisfactory completion of a portfolio of evidence
- regular hours of learning support
- observation in the workplace
