Course programme

The units cover:

Child and young person development
Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
Importance of equality, diversity and inclusion
Communication and professional relationships
Schools as organisations including policies and procedures.
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods:

Inference of knowledge from direct observation of practice
Professional discussion
Reflection on own practice in real work situations
A task set by CACHE.

Learners will carry out a work placement 2 days per week in a school environment as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.


  • Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools,
  • Level 3 Early Years Educator or
  • Into the workforce as a Level 1/2 Teaching Assistant
