This course is an ideal introduction to the early years subject for anyone who may want to work with children, or who finds the early years subject interesting. The CACHE Foundation Award in Caring for Children is made up of seven units all of which must be completed to achieve the qualifications.
The units are:
· Personal development
· Human growth and development
· Food and nutrition
· Health and safety practices
· Care of children
· Play and practical activities
· Orientation to work programme.
As part of this course you may have the opportunity to attend a childcare placement. Work placements are an important part of this qualification. You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications alongside your main course. These will include qualifications in Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards that are relevant to the subject you are
studying. A three-day residential to develop individual and team skills will take place at the start of the course.
How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed via coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities. The awarding body sets one assignment whilst tutors set and assess all other work. Plenty of support with coursework and assessments is provided by your tutors to ensure that you get the most from your CACHE Award.

Progress to a Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Childrens Care, Learning and Development or another Level 2 course in a different subject area, such as the BTEC First Diploma in
Health and Social Care.
Or
Start an exciting career in early years or care, under the supervision of a more senior early years practitioner.
Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 4 GCSEs
at grades C-E.
