Employment at Level 2
Level 3 Award, Certificate, Diploma. Students will be required to go through the normal recruitment and selection processes for the DCE at Stanmore Sixth Form College.
Students could work in a nursery and be assessed in the workplace for an NVQ in children's care and Learning Development. Both these qualifications are Level 3.
Extra Curricular Activities
All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.
What is the course about?
This course leads to a Level 2 qualification and is listed on the QCA framework of nationally accredited qualifications in childcare and education. The course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work in childcare settings such as nurseries, creches and schools.
This Certificate is a qualification for those wishing to work with children 0-16.
Course content will include child development, child health, keeping children safe, learning through play, and practical activities.
Students will spend 2 days a week doing practical training and will attend College for 3 days per week.Practical training takes place in 2 different work settings. Our Placement Officer will arrange these placements during the course induction.
A Distinction Grade and English GCSE at grade C or above is preferred to progress to Advanced Level study.

How will you be assessed?
Assessment of underpinning knowledge will be by national assignments and a short answer paper set by the Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education. Assessment of practical competence will take place in the work placement.
