About this course

There are no formal entry qualifications but you must be 16 years of age and have at least 50 hours of playwork experience.

Course programme

Course Content

You will learn about the role of the playworker, health and safety, inclusive practice and how to build relationships with children, parents/carers and other staff. The Certificate in Playwork includes approximately 50 guided learning hours.

You will need to be employed in a play setting or undertake a minimum of 60 hours voluntary work in play setting in order to gain the practical experience necessary to complete this qualification.

You will be assessed through two assignments, one marked internally and one marked externally.

On Completion of the Certificate in Playwork

Once you have completed the Certificate in Playwork you will be able to progress to the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Playwork or the NVQ Level 3 in Playwork (in order to undertake these qualifications you must be supervising other playworkers).

Additional information

Career opportunities: On successful completion of the Certificate in Playwork (Level 2) you will be able to apply for various playworker/play practitioner jobs, working under supervision.
