4 GCSEs at grade A* - C, which must include English language. Alternatively, The CACHE certificate (CCE)and English GCSE at grade C or above. Cost: Police check and T-shirt: £45 approx. Further Education
Employment at Level 2
Diploma in Childcare and Education (DCE). Students will be required to go through the normal recruitment and selection processes for the (DCE). Students could work in a nursery and be assessed in the workplace for an NVQ in Early Years Care and Education. Both these qualifications are level 3.

All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.
What is the course about?
This Diploma is a 2 year full time course. Students will study a range of units to provide the knowledge, skills and experience to enable students to work in a child care or education setting with children 0-16 years.
This course is a Level 3 qualification and is listed on the QCA framework of nationally accredited qualifications. The Diploma is a recognised route into Higher Education as well as employment. Students will spend 2 days a week in a minimum of 3 work placements (e.g. primary schools, nurseries, private day care).

How will you be assessed?
The course is externally assessed by a multiple choice test, short answer paper and research task. The course is internally assessed through unit assignments. Assessment of practical competence will take place in the placement settings.
