CACHE Level 3 Childminding (CYPOP5)

Who is this course for?

Newly registered childminders or those proceeding through the registration process with their local authority. Students must be 19 and over to apply. To prepare leavers to work as home based child carers/childminders. As well as learning relevant aspects of childcare, this unit supports the development of policies & procedures relevant to registration & basic business skills for childminding. This Qualification prepares learners to set up a home based childcare setting. It is also suitable for learners who want to be employed in home based childcare settings as a Childminding Assistant, Nanny or Au pair.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

You must have literacy skills at level 2 or above and obtain Level 2 in the Literacy Skills Builders on-line assessment.

What will I study ?

Major subject areas for CYPOPS: * Understand how to set up a home based childcare service. * Understand how to establish a safe and healthy home based environment for children. * Understand the principles of development of routines for home based childcare. * Understand how to provide play and other activities for children in a home based settings that will support equality and inclusion. * Understand how home based child carers can support the safeguarding of children in their care. * Understand the principles of supporting positives behaviour in home based childcare setting.

How will I be assessed ?

On-line exam at the end of the course. The online exam will take place during the day on the final week of the course.

CYPOP5 Unit of Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF)

How do I join the course ?

Will I need an interview ?

Yes and you will need to sit a literacy assessment.

Further Information

100% attendance is essential to fulfil the requirements of the course. If you miss a session or do not pass the on-line exam you will be required to re-study the course and pay additional fees. Ofsted requirements for Childminding also includes the necessity to have a Paediatric First Aid qualification, which is offered at the college at an additional fee.
