CACHE NVQ Playwork Level 2(2010/2011)
Study Method:
Classroom sessions, independent study, workshops and portfolio building, practical and creative work and practical assessments.
Duration :Part-time day, one year, one session per week
Who the Course is For:
Candidates who have an interest working with older children in after school settings or summer schemes.
Assessment:
Direct observations carried out to assess practical competence in the setting. Students will also produce a portfolio which includes 7 assignments and assessment reports.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements but students must be over 18 years of age on entry to the programme and may have to sit an assessment/skills audit exercise.
It is a requirement that candidates are working or volunteering in a playwork setting to enable NVQ assessments to be carried out.

Content:
You will study 9 units including : Play, Health & Safety, Child Protection. Child Development and Personal Development and 2 optional units. Students must also spend a minimum of two sessions in an after school setting or summer scheme in order to be assessed in the workplace.
Playwork has a special role in working with children and young people. The course enables playworkers to create safe and exciting opportunities for children to play and develop. You will gain a wide range of knowledge and skills to support your practice and promote high quality provision in a wide range of settings.
