10 cake board â€" drum
Sufficient marzipan to cover cake.
Fondant icing for covering marzipan
Modelling paste in White (also called Flower paste)
Small pastry board or mat suitable for cutting icing on.
Small rolling pin
Icing sugar for dusting work surfaces
Cocktail sticks
Small scissors
Smoother
Piece of Oasis covered with tin foil or cling film (for holding flowers)
Small paint brush
Small knife

course content
Do you want to be able to create beautiful cakes for special occasions, well now is your chance to join Christine who will introduce you to the skills of fondant icing, garrett frilling and crimping. Unfold your previously unknown artistic cake icing and decorating skills. You will need to bring along basic equipment and ingredients, a list of which will be sent prior to the start of the course. Learners will be introduced to the following topics -
Students will learn how to:
Prepare and marzipan a cake
Ice a cake using fondant icing
Use crimpers and embossers
Use royal icing
Make roses, lilies, carnations and leaves
Use powder, paste and liquid colours
Wire sugar flowers and leaves
