This course builds on the skills that applicants will have begun to develop when taking the Foundation Certificate including all aspects of Royal Icing.

Safety & Hygiene to a more advanced level.

NCFE is a nationally recognised certificated course with 3 levels of acheivement: Introductory level 1, Intermediate level 2 and Advanced level 3, each of which has 3 units of competance and has equal standing alongside other recognised awarding bodies.

Course content

Three mandatory units:

Prepare a working file in support of the choosen craft.

Make craft items displaying Intermediate level skills.

Research and present an individual study on a topic relevant to the chosen craft.

Undertake two projects for assessment and moderation.

Additionality

Chef's whites or other appropriate protective clothing. Tools and materials as specified by and agreed with tutor.

When will I receive my results?

Results will be forwarded on as soon as they are received at the college. Please note that certificates, where awarded, can take up to 4 months to be received at the college before forwarding on to learners.

Delivery

3 hrs, 1 evening per week for 22 weeks.

Assessment

Continuous practical assessment and both internal and external verification of portfolio work.

Progression

Advanced qualifications are also available upon successful completion of the Intermediate level.

Candidates may also be considering setting up their own business or employment with specialist companies.

If using these skills in a commercial environment, then a food hygiene qualification is required e.g The RIPH Foundation Certificate.

Payment options: UK/EU Fee : £254.00 Overseas Fee : £470.00 Part-time enrolments are subject to an additional annual registration fee of £10 payable once only per academic year (exemptions may apply).
