Calligraphy
This course is intended for those with some experience, but newcomers to calligraphy will also be welcome. Using traditional tools, learners will develop lettering skills that can be used creatively and practically. For the first session students should bring their usual calligraphy equipment or, if new to lettering, an HB pencil and some paper (any sort) will be sufficient.
What does the course involve?
Working together to develop calligraphic skills and plan an appropriate piece of finished work, using traditional equipment. By the end of the course students will have refined their calligraphy skills to produce a finished piece of individual lettering.
What will I study?
One calligraphic style and/or theme is studied each term, and an optional papercraft project can be completed. Colour is also explored.
What are the entry requirements for Calligraphy?

I'm not particularly artistic - do I need to be to do this course?
You don't need to be. Calligraphy is for people with an interest in lettering and who want to add a creative dimension to their experience.
What should I bring for the first class?
You need only bring an HB pencil and some white or cream paper (any sort will do) about A4 size or larger.
Should I have done the Beginners class before this one?
If you have no experience of calligraphy, you may be more comfortable in the Beginners class prior to joining this one. However, people of all abilities are welcome.
