Course programme

Gain confidence and qualifications in Speaking & Leadership with ToastMasters International (TI), the world's largest public speaking skills training organisation.

There are two branches of Toastmasters International (TiI) in central Edinburgh:

1) Capital Communicators offer fortnightly Public Speaking & Leadership training every second Tuesday at 7.15 for 7.30pm: 1st floor, Theosophical Society, 28 Great King Street, Edinburgh.

2) Waverley Communicators, runs fortnightly sessions on Thursdays at 6.45 for 7.00pm at the Central Library, George IVth Bridge - down to the Edinburgh room and the meeting room entrance is on the far side.

Both clubs use the Toastmasters International meeting agenda, structured to maximise speaking opportunities and cover both 'thinking on your feet' impromptu speaking and prepared speeches.

Toastmasters now runs leadership training alongside the public speaking training so you can boost listening, motivating, mentoring, managing and organising skills and earn qualifications recognised world-wide in both leadership and public speaking.

The club supplies members with the course manuals for 4 public speaking qualifications and 4 leadership awards (Competent, plus Advanced bronze, silver and gold) culminating in a Distinguished award for completing all eight awards.

There is also an annual international competition involving nearly 30,000 speakers world-wide plus national and international conventions.

Members are encouraged to visit other clubs while on holiday: there are 12,000 clubs in over 100 countries, so it is an ideal way to meet people all over the world and get an insider's view of a different culture.

Toastmasters International is a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in the USA.
