This six month multi-professional cardiovascular disease course is aimed primarily at health care professionals (doctors, nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists and pharmacists) who have a role in the delivery and management of care for patients and their families experiencing and at risk of cardiovascular disease. It is aimed at those who wish to respond more effectively to the healthcare needs of their patients. On completion of the module the student will be able to suggest, initiate and vary lifestyle modification and drug therapy to individual needs. The content covers risk assessment and management including hypertension, dyslipidaemia and the management of existing cardiovascular diseases. Emphasis is placed upon the health needs of the individual, health promotion, self-empowerment and palliation.
