Counselling is based on building a trusting relationship between counsellor and client. It can help people talk about their experiences and make sense of them. Counselling can allow people to express difficult feelings and to learn how to manage them in a helpful way.
This Level 2 Award will equip you with counselling skills for working with or caring for children and young people as well as preparing you to go on to higher level counselling training.

About this course
On this course you will:
Be introduced to core counselling skills
Develop an understanding of the value of counselling in childcare roles
Provide skills and techniques to help you improve your communication and increase your self-awareness when working with children
Develop your understanding of relationship building
Understand a range of ethical and cultural issues relating to counselling
Develop the skills to offer counselling for those affected by substance misuses, child abuse, HIV/AIDS and grief
Develop a range of skills to be able to offer career and vocational guidance to children
You don't need any prior skills in the subject area to start this course.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).
