Course Level NVQ Level 4

Description
This course is designed for candidates working in adult care services at a senior level. The units are related to the management of care services. The programme recognises the mix of advanced practitioner functions in first line managerial responsibility.

Course Length
The programme runs over a period of 12 months part-time. Candidates will be expected to attend underpinning knowledge sessions of one three hour period a week in 3 blocks of up to 10 weeks. They will then be assessed in their place of work three times during further 6-week blocks. Candidates will also attend jointly planned tutorial sessions.

What will I study?
  • Unit HSC41 Use and develop methods and systems to communicate, record and report
  • Unit HSC42 Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environment
  • Unit HSC43 Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of self and others
  • Unit HSC45 Develop practices which promote choice, well being and protection of all individuals
  • Unit HSC414 Assess individual needs and preferences
  • Unit HSC416 Develop, implement and review care plans with individuals

    Plus 2 more optional units of your choice

    How will I learn?
    Programme delivery will include a variety of methods to reflect individual learning styles. Examples include, group work, discussions, presentations, role-play and question and answer sessions.

    How will I be assessed?
    Candidates will submit a portfolio of evidence. At least 80 % of this evidence will be observations, as well as candidate explanations, and possibly other evidence as agreed between candidate and assessor. Written feedback will be provided on each observation and on completion of individual units.

    Where could it lead?
    Opportunity for further career progression, and stepping stone towards the Registered Managers Award.
