You can study a GCSE alongside this diploma, if you do not have these grades in one subject or the other. If you don't have a Functional Skills qualification or GCSE at grade D or above in these subjects, you'll need to achieve these before applying. As work experience in a care setting is required for a social work degree, you should have either a voluntary or paid position in place, before you start this course. Paid and voluntary positions are frequently advertised in local newspapers, community centres and libraries, and the local Job Centre can provide help with paid work.
