Upon successful completion of all units and external examination, the level one Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery will be awarded. Students will learn how to use and maintain hand and power tools and produce basic woodworking joints and frames.

Course programme
Programme Features:
- This course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of people enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft
- It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions and the tests are based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual
- The course is delivered by highly qualified and experienced staff using modern facilities
- As part of the programme learners will also complete Essential Skills
- Opportunities will also be provided for GCSCs in Welsh, English and Mathematics and for welsh language development.
Programme Content:
Each unit comprises of two parts knowledge and skill:
- Unit 101/501 Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Unit 113 Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools
- Unit 114 Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
- Unit 115 Produce woodworking joints
- Unit 201/601 Health and Safety and welfare in construction
