Skills and experience gained This course aims to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of relevance to the promotion of health utilising nutritional and exercise approaches, whilst supporting students to become motivated and prepared for fulfilling relevant career paths. Specifically, the course aims are to prepare you to: - Understand and apply the body of knowledge fundamental to the analyses of human health, fitness and nutrition - Solve problems by the application of appropriate tools and techniques - Research, critically evaluate, summarise and communicate information - Work effectively in teams or individually using appropriate professional standards of conduct and behaviour - Become a self-regulated learner, using an awareness of opportunities for careers or further study in the setting and monitoring of personal objectives. After the course The course integrates automatic accreditation opportunities for exercise (Register of Exercise Professionals, REPs) and provides you the opportunity to develop a portfolio for submission to become an accredited Associate Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (AfN). The course embeds vocational qualifications alongside a wider theoretical framework. It contains units endorsed by SkillsActive and gives REPs Level 3 status. It is a distinctive course that blends vocational, practical and theoretical elements and includes gym-based work, exercise referral schemes and personal training.
