Introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff, codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines, CCTV surveillance techniques. Suitable for: Qualification summary People wishing to work as a contracted CCTV operator carrying out public space surveillance are required to hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority. Before they apply for a licence, they must have undergone training. This qualification will attest to their having undertaken this training to the required standard and is marked by exam and an assesmnet against criteria.

CCTV

Level 2 Vocational Qualification 4 day foundation training requirement for licensing.

This is a mandatory course for those involved in the operational use of Public Open Space Surveillance (PSS).

The course is a recognised qualification and has an exam. On the successful completion of the course and passing the exam operators can apply to the SIA to become a licensed operator. Other specific criteria that need to be met. To establish these visit the SIA web site using the link to the left. The Course content is delivered in a classroom environment but it is necessary to have access to a control room for the candidates to have an opportunity to practice the knowledge gained. Below is the basic criteria to be covered during the CCTV PSS course:

  • Introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff

  • Control room communications and access control
  • Dealing with incidents
