Ceramics Saturday Studio

This ceramics course is designed to develop your individual hand built ceramic practice, improving on existing making skills and learning new ones, increasing in confidence and capabilities in clay. Geared towards self-directed ceramic projects with technical help available throughout. You will be given the freedom to work independently and can access a wealth of ceramic materials along with expert guidance and tuition from a practising and professional ceramicist, whilst enjoying a creative atmosphere and friendly group dynamic in a modern ceramic workshop facility. Both off-white and red clay will be available, along with 9 earthenware coloured and transparent ceramic glazes, various powder underglaze stains and oxides.

Course Outcomes
By the end of the course you'll have developed your personal ceramic practice with an increased knowledge of the material and field. You will feel confident to work on self-initiated projects. You will have developed your ceramic decorating techniques including the use of oxides, under glazes and application of ceramic glazes, taking away a series of finished ceramic pieces.

Who Should Attend
Those with some previous experience of hand built ceramics and/or basic working with clay, wishing to develop on existing skill sets.

""Please note - "This course focuses on hand built ceramics and students will not be using the throwing facilities. Students’ ceramic works will need to be fired after the course has ended. We will advise students when the work is ready for collection from the college, which should be no more than 1 - 2 weeks following the completion of the course. Work will then be kept for no longer than one month. If it is not possible to return to the college to collect the work, please speak to the tutor to make alternative arrangements. Please note that we are unable to arrange for the delivery of your work, but would be very happy to prepare this ready for collection should you wish to arrange for a courier."
