This Qualification is for learners aged 16 years and over and is particularly appropriate for those with an interest in progressing to a career involved with working with children in early years or wishing to progress to a Higher Education programme in children's care, development and learning. It allows learners to develop the core knowledge, understanding and skills required by the sector, including child development, play and learning, health, observation, assessment and planning. This qualification is mapped to and fully meets the criteria for the Early Years Educator (Level 3) for learners who complete full 2 year programme. Learners will need to attend a practical placement as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations.

About this course

Learners should hold at least four GSCEs at grade C including English and maths or appropriate equivalent Level 2 qualifications with the capacity to achieve English and maths GCSE grade C during their time on the course. All applicants must undertake an interview and apply for DBS clearance to demonstrate that they do not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working with young people or vulnerable adults
