What is the Certificate in Computerised Bookkeeping course?
This course requires that you have either completed a manual bookkeeping course or are competent in double entry bookkeeping and able to use a computer.
The computerised transactions will relate to the business of a sole trader.
Course topics
- Access accounting software and set up a new company
- Create new accounts in the Sales, Purchases and Nominal Ledgers
- Enter invoices, credit notes, supplier payments and customer receipts
- Correct transaction errors
- Process routine cash and bank transactions and prepare bank reconciliations
- Process salary and other journal entries
- Process recurring entries
- Print a variety of reports
- Back up data and close down securely
- Safety checks, confidentiality, security and other statutory responsibilities
You will learn from demonstrations, instruction and hands-on use of the computers. You will input data from worksheets and past examination papers.
There will be a small amount of theory homework for you to complete. However, if you have access to the Sage software at work or home this would be an advantage.
Assessment details
The examination will take place during the last week of your course; it will test your ability to perform the routine accounting tasks of computerised accounts including a question requiring a written answer. The examination will be two hours in duration plus reading and printing time.

This is a Learning & Skills Council (LSC) funded course and you may be exempt from the tuition fee, however you would be required to pay the registration fee at the time of application. Tuition fees for overseas students may vary from those quoted
