How will I be assessed?

To pass the Certificate (12 credits) you will need to complete short written assignments and undertake a short teaching session (micro teach) for the other students in your group and your tutor.

What is the entry process?

All successful applicants will need to enrol at the course induction evening which is usually held during the first session. All information about enrolment and registration is provided plus further course information will also be available.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Not applicable

Candidates must be willing to undertake an initial assessment of their skills in English, record their development needs and follow an action plan to address them where necessary.

The minimum age requirement  for this course is 18 years.

What else do I need to know?

This course provides an introduction to teaching and training

It is for those intending to teach in Further Education Colleges, Independent Training providers, local authorities and voluntary organisations.

You do not need to be working in a teaching role to complete this course. It is an ideal taster for anyone interested in teaching in the Further Education Sector which includes colleges, adult education and work-based training.

This course is not appropriate for:

·         those wanting to teach in primary schools. If you are interested in teaching in nursery education or primary schools please contact the Early Years team at Warwickshire College

·         those wanting to work as a teaching assistant in schools. Please contact the Early Years team at Warwickshire College

·         those wanting to teach in secondary schools. If you want to teach in secondary schools you should contact the Teaching  Agency  - www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching

This is a 12 week programme delivered over 3 hours per week (evening provision).  

This programme is offered termly with start dates at the beginning of each term in September and January.

What can I do after this course?

On successful completion of the programme candidates can progress onto:

·         Certificate in Education and Training Level 4

·         Diploma in Education and Training Level 5

Progression is dependent on your teaching/training role and responsibilities. The teacher   training team at Warwickshire College can advise you on how you can progress further and which course is appropriate for you.
