Year 1 To cover the foundation information of teaching and learning in terms of planning, preparation, assessment and evaluation.
Year 2 This year will cover the wider impact of Education in the FE sector, in depth evaluation of your own teaching practice. Development of practical teaching.
You may be eligible for direct entry to Year 2 of the Certificate or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, if you have, within the last five years, completed a Cert Ed Year 1 or equivalent qualification (for example, the City and Guilds full 7407, 7318, 7304 qualifications). A Bridge module will be offered to access year 2.
This Bridging Programme will require candidates to demonstrate achievement of the Certificate/PGCE year one learning outcomes at level 4. The Bridging Programme consists of a diagnostic interview with a member of the Teacher Education team, the formulation of an Action Plan, and the production of a portfolio of evidence that substantiates the applicants claim.
All students wishing to move directly to Year 2 of the Certificate/PGCE must also provide evidence of undertaking 60 hours of practical teaching in the year prior to enrolment.

Assessment
How will I be assessed?
You will be observed teaching four times, in each year, twice by one of your course tutors, and twice by your Subject Mentor.
You will produce written assignments and take part in practical activities including a block module at the university at the end of Year 2.
