2. Course description This full Level 4 course is the industry standard for teachers working in education and training. The course is delivered over one academic year on nonconsecutive Saturdays. The qualification explores planning, meeting individual learner needs, assessment, use of resources, and some philosophies of learning. In addition to formal written assignments (which need to be produced using ICT) you will also need to be observed teaching your specialist subject to your own learners a minimum of 3 times over the duration of the year. 3. Entry requirements You must have identified a specialist subject you are interested in teaching, and should be able to demonstrate English and maths skills at a minimum of Level 2 (GCSE A* - C). You will require a teaching commitment to participate in this course, of a minimum of 30 delivery hours over the academic year. This can be paid or unpaid work. You will need to have access to the internet, as well as be able to use basic word processing and presentation software in order to successfully complete the course. There will be a pre-course assessment and interview 4. Equipment required There are no additional costs for this course. Please be aware you can apply to pay for this course through the 24+ Advanced Learning Loans, or by instalments. 5. Assessment method The course is assessed at Level 4, and this is through the production of written coursework (using ICT), presentations to the group. You will also be observed no fewer than 3 times in your own teaching context over the duration of the course.
