The City & Guilds 2392 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification is intended to provide candidates with an introduction to the fundamentals of inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations. Candidates who achieve this qualification could progress onto the Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391-10). Aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training. Suitable for: There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification. However, candidates will be assessed to ensure they have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. It would be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles. This course is ideally suited for candidates who have completed The Domestic Electrical Installer / Part P Electrics and/or City & Guilds 2382 - 17th Edition programmes or candidates who hold previous electrical qualifications and industry experience.

Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification

(City & Guilds 2392-10)

This new Level 2 qualification has been developed in order to meet the needs of the electrical contracting industry.

Training

This is very much a ‘hands-on’ training course. All underpinning knowledge requirements will be supported by frequent practical activities.

Subjects covered:

  • The fundamentals of initial verification
  • Safe working practices and procedures
  • Initial inspection
  • Types of electrical certification for new installations
  • Instrumentation used
  • Range of appropriate tests applied to electrical installations.

Assessment will be by

A multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations, as required by BS 7671:2008 and;

A practical test covering the range of inspections, tests, verification and recording of information and results for a new electrical installation, again, as required by BS 7671:2008
